He has a MBA from the Stern School of Business at New York University and was the Commissioner on the Nevada State Athletic Commission from 1996-2000. Along with UFC President Dana White, Lorenzo is one of the major advocates for getting MMA legalized and regulated in the USA. He purchased the UFC from SEG along with brother, Frank Fertitta III and then co-founded Zuffa.  Zuffa is an American sports promotion company specializing in mixed martial arts and is the parent company for the UFC.  Zuffa recently acquired the Strikeforce MMA brand and owns the intellectual rights and property to the now defunct World Fighting Alliance, PRIDE Fighting Championships and World Extreme Cagefighting.
